Specialisation
The more niche the competency, the fewer consultants match — and the higher the rate. An 'Azure consultant' is a broad profile; an 'Azure OpenAI Service architect' is far rarer.
Urgency and start date
The market is cyclical. Q1 (Jan–Mar) is peak season: budgets are released and projects start. Starting your search 4–6 weeks ahead delivers significantly better rates and availability.
Work mode
Full on-site limits the candidate pool to a given geography. Remote or hybrid opens for nearshore talent and typically keeps rates 10–15% lower.
Assignment duration
